Joseph Blasioli`s gripping documentary THE LAST ROUND chronicles the legendary bout between Muhammad Ali and a little-known Canadian boxer whom the Greatest dubbed the toughest man he ever fought. George Chuvalo was born to immigrant parents and raised in a working-class Toronto neighborhood but harbored lifelong dreams of becoming world champion. After devastating losses to Ernie Terrell and Floyd Patterson, Chuvalo was poised to fight Ali--who had public struggles of his own after converting to Islam and refusing the Vietnam draft--at Toronto`s Maple Leaf Gardens on March 29, 1966. Through archival footage and interviews with sportswriters Jimmy Breslin and Robert Lipsyte, boxing legend Bert Sugar, trainer Angelo Dundee, Ali`s brother Rachman Ali, and Chuvalo himself, Blasioli recreates the dramatic events leading up to the almost mythic battle in which a working-class underdog stood up to a boxing Goliath for 15 rounds of unforgettable fighting.
