Elvis stars as tough-but-tender singer Charlie Rogers, a singer who believes he has finally found a steady job at Maggie Morgan`s (Barbara Stanwyck) carnival. To Maggie, popular Charlie is a way out of her financial difficulties. Trouble brew, however, when Charlie begins a romance with Cathy Lean (Joan Freeman), and Cathy`s carnival supervisor brother, Joe (Leif Erickson), disapproves. Charlie attempts to take his talent elsewhere, but his business with Joe and Cathy isn`t finished yet... Raquel Welch makes her screen debut in a bit part as a college girl.
