Bob Jones (Michael Keaton) is diagnosed with terminal cancer just as his wife Gail (Nicole Kidman) learns she is pregnant with the couple`s first child. Realizing he might die before the child is born, Bob decides to make a video about his life so that his child will someday be able to know him. In making the video, Bob embarks on a journey of self-discovery and decides to reconcile with his past, including a years-long estrangement with his own father.
