MILLENNIUM ACTRESS, director Satoshi Kon`s follow up to 1995`s PERFECT BLUE, is the story of Chiyoko Fujiwara, an actress who was one of Japan`s most popular movie stars from the 1940s to the 1960s, when she went into virtual seclusion. When a documentary filmmaker named Genya discovers that her old studio is set to be destroyed, he decides to try and interview the reclusive actress. His pursuit of Chiyoko provides a jumping off point for director Kon to reveal Chiyoko`s fascinating life through a series of flashbacks as Genya discovers his idol`s life was far more adventurous than her art.
