Coach Mickey Rosario had been a 15-year-old gang leader until two fateful events changed his life: he fell in love with a girl named Negra, and a juvenile court sent him to the Army in lieu of jail. He became a professional boxer and later turned to coaching to help other urban youth escape the drugs, gangs, and violence of the streets, as he had done. Through the discipline of amateur boxing, Mickey and Negra teach the physical and mental skills necessary to change lives--and have been doing so for over 30 years. This inspiring documentary follows the dedicated Rosarios as they train a group of promising young fighters for amateur boxing`s biggest tournament.
