A young woman (Maria Rojo of DANZON) struggles with her homework assignment of making an original film. To fulfill her obligation she decides that making a pornographic home video is the answer to her problem. She makes a booty call to a former boyfriend (Jose Alonso) and uncomfortably tries to seduce him.
This simple story makes for an incredible film, a feat even more astounding given that it is shot in a manner even more simplistic--one camera angle in one take. This stunning 1990 work was conceived and directed by Jaime Humberto Hermosillo, a visionary Mexican filmmaker who made this wry sexual comedy during his most fertile period. Often times, the actors are not fully in frame. The audience watches the players tap their toes anxiously, for example, as the camera captures the distance between the characters as much as it does the action of the scene. Highly calculated, Hermosillo`s static camera records a purely cinematic work. Hermosillo worked this experimental technique into more films, notably BATHROOM MIRROR.
